The Northern Regional Regulatory Centre (NRRC) of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) organized a half-day program on “Radiation Safety and Regulatory Inspection of Industrial Radiography Facilities”. This event was held on March 15, 2024 and a report thereon was published on May 6, 2024.
The event was targeted towards licensees of Industrial Radiography (IR) facilities and Radiation Safety Officers (RSOs) from IR facilities in Delhi-NCR.
Program Highlights:
In his welcome address the Head of Division of Regulatory Inspection, AERB, emphasized the importance of safety culture and the shared responsibility between licensees and RSOs for ensuring safe practices.
The event also included presentations on the following areas:
- Radiation Protection and Regulatory Aspects of IR Facilities (NRRC Delhi)
- Regulatory Inspection of IR Practice (NRRC Delhi)
- Accidents in IR Practice & Lessons Learned (NRRC Delhi)
- User Guidance on AERB e-Licensing web portal (e-LORA) for IR practice (AERB HQ, Mumbai)
Participants also actively engaged with AERB officials, seeking clarifications on safety regulations, licensing procedures, and best practices in industrial radiography.
This program aimed to enhance awareness of radiation safety measures and regulatory requirements among personnel involved in industrial radiography. Effective radiation safety practices are crucial to minimize risks associated with ionizing radiation exposure.
