Ensuring Timely Disbursement of Compensation: A Clarification from the Labour Department

In a recent clarification from the Labour Department of the Government of NCT of Delhi, it has been emphasized that the disbursement of compensation under the Employees Compensation Act, 1923, should adhere strictly to prescribed guidelines. While certain scenarios necessitate a notice period of 15 days before disbursement, it has been noted that in cases not covered under specific provisions, compensation should be disbursed promptly at the end of the 60-day limitation period. This directive aims to streamline the process, ensuring that rightful compensation reaches claimants in a timely manner, thereby upholding the principles of justice and fairness in labor disputes.
