Government of Jammu and Kashmir Declares Paid Holiday On Voting Day In 5 Constituencies

In accordance with the Representation of the People Act, 1951, it is hereby decreed that: A stipulated day(s) off shall be granted in the specified Parliamentary Constituencies on the designated date(s) due to the General Elections to the Lok Sabha, 2024: Name of Parliamentary Constituency Date Udhampur 19th April Jammu 26th April (Friday) Anantnag-Rajouri 7th May Srinagar 13th May (Tuesday) Baramulla 20th May (Monday) The specified election dates above shall be recognized as paid leave for all individuals employed in any business, trade, industrial operation, or any other establishment who are eligible to vote. Additionally, daily wage or casual workers shall also receive the benefit of paid leave and corresponding wages on the polling day. This notification was published on 16/03/2024.

Moreover, individuals who are ordinarily residents of a constituency, registered as voters, and serving or employed in an industrial establishment or any other place of work located outside the constituency, including casual workers, shall also be entitled to the provision of a Paid Holiday on the polling day. Furthermore, it is directed that the aforementioned paid leave(s) shall also be acknowledged in accordance with the explanation to Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
