Government of New Delhi issued notification regarding Paid holiday due to Lok Sabha Election and Bye-Election

The Election Commission of India has declared the General Election to Lok Sabha and Bye-elections to Assembly constituencies of various States. Accordingly, the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh, through letter no. 358/tc/Eo-2-09/2-2024 dated 19th March 2024 addressed to the Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi, has requested the granting of holidays to employees working in Delhi on the polling dates of the respective Parliament and Assembly Constituencies of Uttar Pradesh. This Notification was published on 27.03.2024.

Subsequently, the Election Officer of the Chief Electoral Office, GNCTD, via letter no. CEO/CEoll02(55)/2024/232 dated 22nd March 2024 addressed to the Commissioner (Labour), GNCTD, has stipulated that all establishments, factories, and other business entities in Delhi should ensure that electors residing in constituencies of Uttar Pradesh and employed in various establishments of NCT of Delhi are granted paid leave on the day of polling, i.e., on 19th April 2024 (Phase-I), 26th April 2024 (Phase-II), 7th May 2024 (Phase-III), and 13th May 2024 (Phase-IV), in their respective constituencies as per the attached schedule in Annexure-A, to facilitate their voting. Accordingly, all employers of industrial establishments, factories, shops, and commercial establishments in NCT of Delhi shall provide paid leave to their employees who are electors of the respective Parliament and Assembly Constituencies of Uttar Pradesh to enable them to cast their vote in their respective constituency on the day of polling, in case the scheduled day is a working day for them/electors.
