Staff Paper on Regulatory Oversight on Bidding Behaviour in Power Exchanges

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) is seeking public feedback on its staff paper to enhance oversight of bidding behavior in power exchanges. A public notice inviting feedback was issued on May 5, 2024.

The CERC enforces market monitoring and surveillance functions as per the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Power Market) Regulations, 2021 (PMR, 2021).

A staff paper titled “Regulatory Oversight on Bidding Behaviour in Power Exchanges” has been published for comment on the CERC website.

Purpose of the Paper

  • Analyze current price discovery mechanisms in power exchange transactions.
  • Examine bidding practices of market participants.
  • Propose methods to screen buy and sell bids.
