CERC (Terms and Conditions of Tariff) (First Amendment) Regulations, 2025

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has issued the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Terms and Conditions of Tariff) (First Amendment) Regulations, 2025, effective from April 1, 2024. These amendments introduce several changes impacting power generation tariffs, cost calculations, and operational procedures.

Public Input Sought on Proposed Changes to Cross-Border Electricity Trade Regulations

This draft revision aims to refine the existing regulations governing cross-border electricity trade in India. The draft is titled the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Cross Border Trade of Electricity) (Second Amendment) Regulations, 2024. CERC Notifies Commencement of Clause 8 of DSM Regulations 2024

The stipulation in DSM Regulations regarding charges for deviation by way of injection of infirm power will now come into effect on December 23, 2024. Until December 22, 2024, CERC’s Order dated February 6, 2023, on charges for deviation for injection of scheduled inform power will remain in operation.

Public Hearing on Electricity Transmission Charges and Losses Announced

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has invited stakeholders to participate in a public hearing on the proposed amendments to regulations governing the sharing of interstate transmission charges and losses. This hearing will take place on December 11, 2024 at 10:30am online through video conferencing.

CERC Extends Deadline for Feedback on Inter-State Transmission Charge Regulations

It may be recalled that CERC had originally fixed the deadline for receiving comments on this draft as November 11, 2024. CERC has now decided to grant an extension in this deadlines till November 25, 2024. The CERC has granted this extension in response to requests from stakeholders who require more time to review the draft regulations and provide their feedback.

CERC Proposes New Regulations for Carbon Credit Trading

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has proposed new regulations to govern the purchase and sale of Carbon Credit Certificates (CCCs) in India. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency will categorize CCCs for obligated and non-obligated entities seeking to comply with or offset their carbon footprint. CCCs will be traded on power exchanges, with specific rules for eligibility, price discovery, and registry interaction requiring CERC approval.

CERC Extends Deadline for Comments and Organizes Workshop on GNA Regulations

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has extended the deadline for stakeholders to submit comments and suggestions on the “Staff Paper on Modifications in the GNA Regulations.” The new deadline is December 2, 2024. Additionally, CERC will also be having an interactive session to facilitate better understanding on the issues arising from these modifications on November 19, 2024.
