FSSAI to Hold Stakeholder Meeting on Proposed Food Safety Standards
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has announced a stakeholder meeting to discuss proposed new food safety standards and amendments to existing regulations. The meeting is scheduled for April 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the FSSAI headquarters in New Delhi. For those unable to attend in person, the FSSAI has provided an online platform through Webex. Stakeholders are requested to confirm their attendance, whether physical or online, to help with logistical arrangements.
Government to Establish 100 New Food Testing Labs to Boost Food Safety Nationwide
The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MOFPI) will financially support the establishment of 100 new National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL)-accredited food testing laboratories in the upcoming financial year 2025-26. The announcement was made on March 22, 2025 by the Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries.
Government Amends Export Norms to Boost Millet-Infused Wheat Flour Exports
The Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has announced amendments to the Standard Input Output Norms (SION) E-136, enabling and regulating the export of “Wheat Flour (Atta) with Millets.” This move aims to promote the export of value-added products and support the inclusion of millets in global food supply chains.
FSSAI CEO Embarks On Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra In Kardnur Village
As a part of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, a nationwide initiative, the CEO of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) undertook a visit to Kardnur village in the Sangareddy district of Telangana. As a member of the Executive Committee, India will not only have a significant say in international standard-setting for various food product categories but will also actively participate in decision-making processes. India has also been recognised by FAO for being the host country secretariat for Codex Committee on Spices and Culinary Herbs and its contribution to codex.

The Food Safety Magic Box is specifically designed to ignite curiosity among students and empower them to distinguish between safe and unsafe food.
MoD & FSSAI sign MoU Promoting Millets in Armed Forces
The primary objective of the MoU is to raise awareness about the nutritional benefits of incorporating diverse diets and millet-based food products among armed forces personnel. As part of this collaboration, millet-based menus will be introduced in messes, canteens, and other food outlets under the Ministry of Defence.
Ministry of AYUSH issues a Call for Papers on Special Issue of JDRAS on “Millets- The Nutri-cereals”
