The Government of India has revised the advance registration period for the Steel Import Monitoring System (SIMS) 2.0 portal to streamline the import process and promote ease of doing business. The revised registration periods are effective from August 5, 2025.
The changes, which apply to all steel products except those covered under specific HS codes of heading 7204 of ITC(HS), 2022, are as follows:
- Nepal, Bhutan: The application for registration must be submitted not earlier than the 60th day and not later than the 2nd day before the expected date of arrival of the import consignment.
- UAE, Oman: The application period is not earlier than the 60th day and not later than the 4th day before the expected date of arrival of the consignment.
- Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia: The application period is not earlier than the 60th day and not later than the 5th day before the expected date of arrival of the consignment.
For items covered under specific HS codes of heading 7204 of ITC(HS), 2022, the advance registration period has been set to not earlier than the 60th day and not later than the 2nd day before the expected date of arrival of the import consignment.
All other terms and conditions remain the same as in the notice dated June 13, 2025.
