NeGD Achieves Pan-India Integration of Nearly 2,000 e-Government Services

In a remarkable achievement for the Digital India initiative, the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has successfully integrated nearly 2,000 e-Government services across all 36 States and Union Territories. This milestone, announced on August 31, 2025, allows citizens to access essential services such as certificates, welfare schemes, and utility payments seamlessly through the DigiLocker and e-District platforms.

The integration of these services marks a significant step towards enhancing convenience, efficiency, and transparency in governance. With the ability to access services anytime and anywhere, citizens can now enjoy a more streamlined experience when interacting with government services. This development aligns with the vision of the Digital India program, which aims to foster a paperless and mobile governance framework, contributing directly to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

DigiLocker has emerged as a cornerstone of India’s digital public infrastructure, addressing challenges related to interoperability, data security, and multi-stakeholder coordination. Its innovative framework has empowered citizens by providing trusted digital services that are both accessible and reliable. The platform has become a vital tool for ensuring that citizens can easily obtain necessary documents and access various government services without the hassle of physical paperwork.

Among the states leading the charge in service availability, Maharashtra stands out with an impressive 254 services accessible to its citizens. Following closely are Delhi with 123 services, Karnataka with 113, Assam with 102, and Uttar Pradesh with 86 services. Other states like Kerala and Jammu & Kashmir each offer 77 services, while Andhra Pradesh provides 76. This wide array of services reflects the commitment of various state governments to enhance digital accessibility and improve the quality of life for their residents.

As of now, a total of 1,938 services are available nationwide, showcasing the extensive reach of this initiative. The NeGD plans to further expand the portfolio of e-Government services by leveraging emerging technologies and adopting an AI-driven approach. This will include structured training programs and workshops aimed at raising awareness at the state level, ensuring that citizens are well-informed about the available services.

The government’s commitment to leveraging technology for citizen empowerment and transformative governance is evident in this achievement. Prime Minister’s vision of a digitally enabled and inclusive India is being realized through initiatives like these, which aim to bridge the gap between citizens and government services.

The NeGD, established in 2009, has been instrumental in supporting MeitY in the management and implementation of e-Governance projects. Its operational areas include program management, project development, technology management, and capacity building. The division has developed and manages several national public digital platforms, including DigiLocker, UMANG, and India Stack Global, among others.

In conclusion, the integration of nearly 2,000 e-Government services on DigiLocker and e-District platforms is a significant milestone in India’s journey towards digital governance. It not only enhances the accessibility of essential services for citizens but also sets the stage for future innovations in governance. As the nation continues to embrace digital transformation, the focus remains on creating a more inclusive and efficient system that benefits all citizens.
