The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has issued an order allowing importers and manufacturers of medical devices to affix a sticker with the revised Maximum Retail Price (MRP) following a reduction in the Goods & Services Tax (GST) rate.
The order, dated September 11, 2025, refers to a recent government decision to rationalize GST rate structures for certain drugs and formulations, with the changes set to take effect from September 22, 2025.
In an exercise of powers under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and its rules, the Central Licensing Authority (CLA) has granted permission for stakeholders to implement the change through stickering.
The approval is applicable to:
- Importers
- Manufacturers of Class C and D medical devices
These entities have been granted a period of three months from the date of the order, i.e. till December 11, 2025, to affix the sticker showing the revised MRP to reflect the new GST rate.
