The Indian Nursing Council (INC) has directed all Principals of Colleges of Nursing to ensure the participation of students in activities organized as part of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM), observed annually in October.
This directive follows a letter from the University Grants Commission (UGC) emphasizing the theme “Cyber Jagrit Bharat” (#CyberJagritBharat), which focuses on increasing cyber hygiene, digital safety, and responsible online conduct across all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
Mandatory Lecture and Schedule
All nursing students and staff are specifically required to attend the following session:
- Event: Chetna Series Lecture on “Cyber Crime and Cyber Safety”
- Speaker: Shri Gaurav Gupta, Director/Scientist ‘F’, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Required Awareness Activities
In addition to attending the lecture, Colleges of Nursing must undertake various awareness activities, submitting a report on their efforts to the UGC. The suggested activities include:
- Conducting workshops and webinars.
- Organizing cyber hygiene campaigns for employees and users.
- Running innovative social media campaigns regarding cyber security best practices.
- Organizing cyber security awareness quizzes and drills.
- Conducting drives to update the inventory of all IT assets and complete cyber security audits of unaudited applications and systems.
HEIs are requested to submit a brief report on their activities undertaken during the month using the following Google Form link for monitoring and documentation purposes.
