Ministry of Personnel Extends Administrative Tribunal Jurisdiction to Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission

The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has issued a notification applying provisions of the Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985, to the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. This action grants employees of the IPC the right to approach the Administrative Tribunal for adjudication of disputes related to their service matters, ensuring they receive subsidies, benefits, and services in a seamless and convenient manner.

The Central Government made the decision to specify the IPC for coverage under the Act, recognizing the importance of extending the simplified dispute resolution mechanism to autonomous institutions funded by the Consolidated Fund of India.

Application of Administrative Tribunals Act

The Central Government specified October 29, 2025, as the date from which the provisions of sub-section (3) of section 14 of the Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985, shall apply to the IPC.

The notification officially amends the Schedule to the notification of the Government of India published on May 2, 1986, by inserting the IPC as a new entry (Serial Number 231) in the list of organizations covered under the Act.

Status of Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission

The IPC, located in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, is an autonomous institution operating under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It is legally registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The extension of the Administrative Tribunals Act to the IPC ensures that service-related grievances are handled expeditiously by the specialized Tribunal.
