AICTE issues circular on Introduction/Continuation of Supernumerary Seats for foreign Nationals/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries.

The All India Council for Technical Education on 11th August 2022, has prescribed certain requirements and eligibility criteria for introducing/continuation of Supernumerary seats for foreign Nationals/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries in AICTE approved I institutions.

The existing Institution having at least 50% of eligible Course accredited by NBA, and if the valid accreditation period is beyond 10th April of the next Calendar Year, seeking approval for the introduction of supernumerary seats for Foreign Nationals/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries shall apply on AICTE Web-Portal along with additional documents as prescribed in the approval process handbook.

Institutions selected for Study in India Programme by the Government of India are eligible for introduction of FN/OCI/Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries in All Programmes/Courses without Expert Visit Committee and TER (Technical Education Regulatory) Charges. If the Institution is providing Fee waiver to the selected students as per its commitment to the Government, the TER Charges for continuation of supernumerary seats for FN/OCI/Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries shall be waived. However, the institutions shall upload on AICTE Web portal the selection letter for study in India Programme and the document for the Fee Waiver provided to the students

The Institutions shall submit online application Mandatorily for Each Course (required/interested) for continuation of approval for supernumerary seats for admitting FN/OCI/Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries, as a part of application of Extension of approval, every year, giving details of faculty and other facilities.

Further institutions admitting foreign nationals should ensure registration of foreign students with concerned foreigner’s regional registration officer (FRRO) as well as with the local police station about their entry and exit in India.
