The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change vide its press release dated 22nd December 2020 has directed all industries in Delhi NCR to switch to piped natural gas considering the fact that the industrial sector is one of the major contributors to air pollution in Delhi and the National Capital Region.
The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR has reviewed the progress of switching over of industries operating in Delhi to PNG and has identified 1,644 industrial units spread across 50 industrial areas to switch over to PNG.
Further, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee has been directed to inspect and identify the industries using unapproved fuels and to take stringent penal action in case of non-compliance.
