Direction regarding enforcement of Food Safety and Standards(Advertising and Claims) Second Amendment 2022

The amendment regulation 2 provides that, where the meaning of a trade mark, brand name or fancy name containing adjectives such as “natural”, “fresh”, “pure”, “original”, “traditional”, “authentic”, “genuine”, “real”, appearing in the labelling, presentation or advertising of a food is such that it is likely to mislead the consumer as to the nature of the food, in such cases a disclaimer shall be mentioned prominently on the front of pack of the label stating that this is only a brand name. The enforcement of this provision is extended till 13 June, 2023.

Manufacturers & Importer requested to provide information on Medicines under CGHS

The Addl. Director, Medical Stores Depot, CGHS is now requesting manufacturers / importers to provide information on the specified list of medicines. The memorandum lists 86 medicines on which information is requested. The intent behind seeking this information is to access the local manufacturing capacity and identify local potential suppliers.

Proposals of 49th Meeting of the GST Council

The Council has also recommended that an amnesty may be provided in the past cases, where registration has been cancelled on account of non-filing of the returns, but
application for revocation of cancellation of registration could not be filed within the time specified in section 30 of CGST Act, by allowing such persons to file such application for revocation by a specified date, subject to certain conditions.

Gas Cylinders (Amendment) Rules, 2022

The amendment provides that all the high pressure cylinders and Cryogenic containers used for filling of Non-Toxic, Non-Flammable Gases and Liquids shall have permanent and tamper proof marking in form of Bar Code or RFID or QR code or any means of electronic identification number at conspicuous place on cylinders and containers.

Draft Multi-Source Edible Oils Grading and Marking Rules, 2023

Any person desirous of making any suggestion in respect of the said draft rules, may forward the same, within the period specified above, to the Agricultural Marketing Adviser to the Government of India, Directorate of Marketing and Inspection, Head Office, CGO Complex, NH – IV, Faridabad (Haryana) 121001, who shall forward the same to the Central Government for consideration.

Special Economic Zones (Amendment) Rules, 2023.

The amendment provides that a unit in an International Financial Services Centre, authorised
to undertake aircraft leasing activity, if allowed by the International Financial Services Centre Authority not to maintain separate office, may utilise office space or manpower or both, of another unit set up in International Financial Services Centre authorised to undertake aircraft leasing activity, as may be approved by the Authority.
