India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem continues to evolve rapidly, with innovation and technology driving new business models and economic opportunities. At the heart of this transformation is the Government of India’s commitment to building supportive infrastructure and policy frameworks for startups. A significant initiative in this direction is the Bharat Startup Knowledge Access Registry (BHASKAR) — a dynamic digital platform designed to foster collaboration, information sharing, and stakeholder engagement across the startup landscape.
As of 30th June 2025, a total of 1,97,932 entities are registered under the ‘startup’ category on BHASKAR. This growing community represents a broad spectrum of sectors, geographies, and stages of business growth, reflecting the vibrancy and diversity of India’s innovation-driven economy. BHASKAR acts as a unified registry and interactive hub for startups, investors, incubators, accelerators, and policy enablers.
This platform is more than just a database — it is a collaborative digital infrastructure aimed at unifying India’s fragmented startup ecosystem and making support mechanisms more accessible and transparent.
Recognizing the importance of inclusive adoption, the Government is undertaking extensive outreach and awareness activities across States and Union Territories. These efforts are focused on gathering feedback, understanding regional challenges, and enhancing user experiences—especially for small and micro-enterprises, which often face greater hurdles in accessing institutional support.
Key components of the outreach strategy include:
By positioning BHASKAR as a central knowledge and interaction hub, the government aims to empower startups not only with data and schemes but also with the opportunity to form meaningful, outcome-driven relationships. The platform is poised to play a key role in democratizing access to startup resources and aligning national and regional efforts toward innovation-led growth.
As BHASKAR moves toward full-scale implementation, it stands as a testament to the government’s proactive approach in strengthening India’s entrepreneurial framework. It’s not just a registry—it’s a step toward building a connected, collaborative, and empowered startup Bharat.
