The Bureau of Indian Standards has issued revised standards for iron pipes and aluminium alloy tubes and rods.
The notification has introduced 3 standards. All of these standards have been established on 19th June, 2023.
These standards are as follows:
- IS 1285 : 2023 Wrought Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys — Extruded Round Tube and Hollow Sections for General Engineering Purposes — Specification (Fourth Revision)
- IS 1536 : 2023 Centrifugally Cast (Spun) Iron Pressure Pipes for Water, Gas and Sewage — Specification (Fifth Revision) and
- IS 9997 : 2023 Aluminium Alloy Redraw Rods for Electrical Purposes — Specification (Second Revision)
It is pertinent to note that the previous version of these standards will stand withdrawn on 19th December, 2023.
