BIS has introduced two new standards, IS 18590: 2024 and IS 18606: 2024, focusing on the critical components of EVs – the powertrain (motor, transmission) and batteries. The standards mandate stringent safety requirements to ensure reliable and secure operation.
Delhi-NCR Migrates Inter-city Bus Services To Cleaner Modes
Upon deliberations with all concerned stakeholders, it was decided that older polluting buses (BS-III and BS-IV) entering Delhi-NCR from neighboring states will be phased out. These buses will be replaced with cleaner options such as Electric Vehicles (EVs), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses and BS-VI diesel compliant buses (latest emission standards). This directive applies to buses operated by state governments, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and private entities.

Vehicle owners need to check the status of motor third party insurance of their respective motor vehicles and obtain / renew their insurance at the earliest, if not done already.
Jharkhand Government Updates On Vehicles Registration under Bharat (BH) Series.
The Jharkhand Government issue guidelines on new BH (Bharat) Series or BH Number Plate Registration for non-transport vehicle registration, aimed at facilitating vehicle transfers across India. Private companies must submit Form 60 for registration, while employees must provide an official identity card or service certificate. Toll payments are required for registration, and owners must inform the registration officer of their residence within 30 days. Registration is optional and comes into effect from the Jharkhand Gazette.
Rationalizing Parking Charges For Private Vehicles In NCR
The CAQM has urged Urban Local Bodies to disincentivize private vehicles by way of rationalizing the parking charges. This endeavor shall be completed and implemented expeditiously, but not later than 30.08.2024 and a compliance report must be submitted to the Commission.
e-Governance of Civil Aviation platform will perform Aadhaar authentication of applicants to obtain the various services under the Drone Rules, 2021
The authentication can be done through the e-Governance of Civil Aviation Platform, on a voluntary basis, for verifying the identity of users.

Central Motor Vehicles (Seventh Amendment) Rules, 2024
The amendment provides that the Director of Industries or Director of Transport may be nominated as the registering authority in case the State/ Union Territory does not have a position equivalent to Commissioner of Industries or Commissioner of Transport and the registering authority shall be empowered to issue Preliminary Registration Certificate, issue and renewal of Registration Certificate under this chapter for the registration of Automated Testing Stations.
Central Motor Vehicles (Registration and Functions of Vehicle Scrapping Facility) Amendment Rules, 2024
The Registered Scrapper shall ensure timely conduct of audit of the Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility by any of the agencies specified under rule 126 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 to undertake a regulatory and compliance audit and audit of the mass flow statement as maintained in Form- by the Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility.
