CBIC extends the last date for furnishing Annual Return or reconciliation statement for Financial Year (FY) 2017-18 from December 31, 2019 to January 31, 2020.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) vide Notification Order dated 26th December 2019, has published the Central Goods and Services Tax (Tenth Removal of Difficulties) Order, 2019 to extend the due date for filing Annual Return or Reconciliation Statement in Form GSTR-9 for the FY 2017-18.

Every registered person, other than an Input Service Distributor, a person paying tax for TDS, a casual taxable person and a non-resident taxable person, shall furnish an annual return for every financial year electronically in Form GSTR-9 on or before the thirty-first day of December following the end of such financial year. Due to some technical problems faced by the taxpayers the said annual return for the period from the 1st July, 2017 to the 31st March, 2018 could not be furnished by the registered persons. Therefore CBIC on recommendation of the council has extended the due date from 31st Dec 2019 to 31st January 2020.
