CDSCO requests that Samples of Cough Syrup not be submitted to CDTL Mumbai Lab

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has issued a public notice requesting that Samples of Cough Syrup be submitted to labs other than CDTL Mumbai Lab. This notice was issued on 21st June, 2023.

It may be recalled that CDSCO had by a notification dated 13th June, 2023, decided to update the number of batches of cough syrups it receives at different labs on its website. This measure was intended to foster work distribution among the labs and release of test reports in a timely manner.

Pursuant to this, CDSCO has observed that based on data for 21st June, 2023, CDTL Mumbai Lab has 93 samples of cough syrup under testing. It was also observed that some other laboratories did not have any samples under testing.

Hence, to rectify this, CDSCO has instructed all manufacturers and exporters in the state of Maharashtra to refrain from submitting any samples to CDTL Mumbai Lab until it completes analysis and release of pending reports.

Manufacturers and exporters in the state of Maharashtra are also requested to verify the pendency of sample testing on the CDSCO website on a daily basis and to submit their samples to laboratories that have no/ less samples.
