Declaration of Public Holiday for General Election in Goa

The Government of Goa issued a notification, declaring Tuesday, 7th May, 2024, as a public holiday for the General Election to the House of the People (Lok Sabha) throughout the State of Goa. 

The holiday is to be considered a paid holiday and applies to various categories of workers and establishments, including industrial workers, daily wage workers of government industrial departments, commercial and industrial workers of private establishments, and daily wage/casual workers employed in any business, trade, or industrial undertakings in the State of Goa. Additionally, the public holiday is applicable to registered voters, even if they are working outside the territorial limits of the areas where the election is taking place.

Furthermore, the notification specifies that the public holiday is applicable to workers and establishments as detailed in the notification, regardless of whether they belong to Central or State Government Offices, Central/State Government undertakings, or other entities.
