Delhi’s Lt. Governor Empowers Commissioner of Police with Detention Authority

The Lt. Governor of the National Capital Territory of Delhi has issued a notification empowering the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, with additional authority under the National Security Act, 1980. This notification was issued on 6th October, 2023.

  3. Period of Authorization: This directive is in effect for a specified period, commencing on October 19, 2023, and concluding on January 18, 2024. During this duration, the Commissioner of Police, Delhi, will also exercise the powers of a detaining authority under the National Security Act.
