The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, has reaffirmed its dedication to promoting cleanliness and efficiently addressing public grievances and concerns under its jurisdiction. In a recent update, the department showcased its achievements from October 2022 to August 2023, demonstrating its commitment to public service.
In October 2022, the Department initiated “Special Campaign 2.0,” a nationwide effort aimed at enhancing cleanliness and raising awareness about Swachhta at 164 different sites across India. The campaign extended its reach beyond office buildings and campuses, encompassing diverse and strategic public locations, thereby engaging a wider audience in the Swachhta movement.
Notably, during the period from November 2022 to August 2023, the Department achieved a remarkable milestone by resolving an impressive 98% of public grievances within a mere six months. What sets this achievement apart is that there were no appeals against the initial responses, indicating a high level of satisfaction among the public regarding the department’s prompt grievance resolution.
The department also demonstrated its commitment to efficient resource management by undertaking the review and disposal of a library collection comprising 4846 books, which had been acquired over a decade ago. This initiative, carried out through open tenders, freed up valuable space in December 2022, resulting in the reclamation of 305 square feet of area for alternate use, exemplifying the department’s dedication to optimizing its infrastructure.
Looking ahead, the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals has its sights set on “Special Campaign 3.0,” scheduled for October 2023. As part of this upcoming campaign, the department has identified the review of electronic files (e-files) as its priority, further underlining its commitment to efficient and modernized governance.
