The National Health Authority (NHA) and the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to roll out e-Sushrut@Clinic, a simplified, cloud-based Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) designed for small and medium healthcare providers. The initiative, a pivotal step in expanding the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) ecosystem, aims to provide an affordable, government-backed digital solution to tens of thousands of doctors and facility managers nationwide. This press release was issued on August 14, 2025.
e-Sushrut@Clinic is a lighter version of C-DAC’s flagship e-Sushrut HMIS software, which is currently used in 17 AIIMS hospitals and over 4,000 other health facilities. The platform is specifically tailored for outpatient management, pharmacy, and nursing modules, enabling small clinics, sub-centers, and medium-sized hospitals to digitize patient records, prescriptions, and billing with minimal technical overhead.
Key Features and Benefits
ABDM-Enabled
As an ABDM-enabled platform, e-Sushrut@Clinic will help accelerate the creation of an interoperable digital health ecosystem. According to Union Health Secretary Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava, this initiative is expected to improve efficiency, data security, and patient satisfaction.
Easy Onboarding
Healthcare providers can onboard the system simply through a webpage using their Health Facility Registry (HFR) and Health Professionals Registry (HPR) credentials. Providers not already registered can do so directly on the e-Sushrut@Clinic platform.
Integrated Tools
The platform includes several ABDM utilities, such as the AIIMS Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS) for hypertension and diabetes, which is provided free for all ABDM-integrated software. This tool is designed to help doctors make better diagnoses and treatment decisions.
Addressing a Critical Need
The need for this software arose from feedback during the rollout of ABDM microsites, which revealed a demand for a trustworthy, government-backed digital solution for the private sector. The collaboration between NHA and C-DAC provides a secure and reliable platform, leveraging the proven credibility of systems already in use at AIIMS hospitals.
The new system is expected to make it easier for doctors in both public and private clinics to access and update patient health records, offer telemedicine services, and streamline diagnostics and prescriptions.
