Financial Accountability: Telangana Addresses Loan Issues and CAG Findings

The Chief Minister of Telangana has ordered a thorough investigation into the Sheep and Fishlings distribution schemes from the previous government. He instructed officials to look into all aspects, including beneficiary selection and fund usage. Any corruption found will be immediately reported to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). The CM expressed concerns about irregularities highlighted in a recent report and urged officials to address them. Regarding the National Cooperative Development Corporation’s loan issue, it was clarified that loans were withheld due to various reasons, including objections raised by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). The CM also questioned delays in distributing sheep to beneficiaries who had paid partial amounts.

In addition, concerns were raised about the dairy farmers not receiving their incentives for three years, accumulating arrears of 203 crores. The CM instructed officials to release these incentives regularly. Suggestions were made to improve veterinary services, including establishing veterinary hospitals in each Mandal and continuing mobile clinics. The CM also proposed giving weightage to experienced departmental employees in recruitment for Veterinary Assistant Surgeon posts, similar to the health department’s practice.
