Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development distributed Rs.60.18 lakh as financial assistance from “TN Champions Foundation” fund to Tamil Nadu sportspersons who participated and won medals in various sports events. Minister also distributed cheques of Rs. 38.40 Lakhs as expenses towards competition entry fee, airfare, local transportation fee, visa expenses and uniform cost for 24 physically challenged sportspersons who will participate in International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation Games (IWAS) at THAILAND from 01.12.2023 to 09.12.2023 in a program held today (17.11.2023) at the Chennai camp office.
Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development presented a cheque of Rs.2.00 lakh to Guhan Vasanth, who won silver medal in the 19th Asian Roller Skating Championship held in China from 18.10.2023 to 31.10.2023 and cheques of Rs.2.00 lakh each as incentive to 8 medal winners of the 5th National Para Badminton Championship held at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh from 23.03.2023 to 26.03.2023.
“Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation” with donations of Rs. 5 Lakhs from Hon’ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s own funds and 70 other private corporates and individuals contributions have so far amounted to Rs. 21.06 Crores. From this fund, about 228 sportsmen and women from Tamil Nadu have been provided as assistance and incentives to the tune of Rs.4.64 Crore.
