Food manufacturers can modify their licenses before 31st December 2020 under the new portal

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India vide its notification dated 28th May 2020 has modified the selection process for standardized products while manufacturers/Processors apply for FSSAI license.

At present, while applying for an FSSAI license, the manufacturer applicant types the name of food product he intends to manufacture in the text box. It has now been replaced by selection option of standardized food products with the launch of food safety compliance system.

The Standardised product shall have its classification as per the food category system indicated for convenience. In case the product is not falling under any of the standardized product category, FBO shall apply under proprietary food.

Further, a new category 100 is being created for the purpose of licensing, wherein standardized products do not have food category system mapped will be listed. Manufacturers who have their license in wrong food category shall get their license modified within 30th December 2020 without any modification fee.
