The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India vide notification dated 05.05.2020 has issued clarification with regard to food in context of Covid-19 Pandemic. The FSSAI clarifies that there is no conclusive evidence to consider that the Novel Corona virus can be transmitted through food.
The FSSAI has received representations stating that local and state governments has imposed certain restrictions on frozen food to prevent spread of Covid-19 and such restrictions have no scientific basis. FSSAI thereby directs all bodies to review and redraft their measures against FSSAI guidelines.
