FSSAI directs FBOs to be cautious against the fake news about an order seeking Rs. 1200 fine

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in its circular dated 3rd March 2020, has cautioned against a fake news about order imposing one-year security fine of Rs. 1,200 on food businesses, that is being circulated on social media.

FSSAI had found that a fake order dated February 12, 2020, had been circulated on social media and amongst food businesses which mentions a “notice of Rs 1200/- for the one-year security fine for the said industry or company”. However, it is clarified that FSSAI has not issued any such order.

Further FSSAI has also advised food businesses and State Food Safety Authorities to verify or confirm the veracity of any order released by checking FSSAI official website before making any payment or initiating any other action. FSSAI is taking legal action about this incident of forgery and spreading a fake order.
