FSSAI extends deadline for implementing alcoholic beverages regulation.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India vide notification dated 30th January 2020 has extended the time period for implementing the labelling requirement of Indian Brandy, whereas, Fssai in its earlier notification has issued a direction to implement the labelling of Indian brandy as Indian brandy (made from molasses spirit) within 31st March 2020

However, the food regulatory authority had received representations from various stakeholders in respect of difficulties being faced to the labelling of Indian brandy as Indian brandy (made from molasses spirit), because brandy is widely made from sources other than molasses and the representation were also received from stakeholders stating that they have to register the label with each state/UT excise well in advance from timely printing.

Therefore after due consideration, FSSAI has decided that the date of implementation of labelling requirement is further extended till the final notification is published.
