FSSAI takes measures to prevent adulteration of mustard oil

Food Safety and Standard Authority vide notification dated 4th March 2020 has advised Food Safety Commissioners of all States/Union territories to carry out enforcement activities to prevent adulteration of mustard oil.

A recent surveillance carried out in Delhi-NCR revealed that 33% of samples of mustard oil collected contains oryzanol. Food Safety Commissioners of all States/Union territories are advised to collect and test samples of all brands of mustard oil available in the market for presence of oryzanol. Appropriate action will be taken upon of detection of adulteration of oil.
