GCMMF Today: A Global Dairy Powerhouse Led by Farmers

The Golden Jubilee celebration of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), also known as the Amul Federation, was a historic event attended by Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Gujarat, showcasing the remarkable journey of the cooperative sector. Over one lakh farmers and cooperative leaders gathered at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad to commemorate this momentous occasion. This Notification was published on 22.02.2024.

Prime Minister praised Amul’s unparalleled growth and its pivotal role in India’s dairy sector, affirming the government’s unwavering support towards its aspiration to become the world’s leading dairy enterprise. He highlighted the transformative power of Amul, symbolizing trust, development, and farmers’ empowerment. Chief Minister of Gujarat emphasized the significance of cooperation in fostering prosperity, drawing parallels between the jubilant atmosphere of the event and recent celebrations in Ayodhya. He credited the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah for championing the mission of prosperity through cooperation. The event also witnessed the inauguration of five dairy plants and the release of a commemorative coin for GCMMF by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. With over 36 lakh farmers affiliated and a daily procurement of over 3 crore litres of milk, GCMMF stands as the largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative globally, marketing dairy products under the renowned ‘Amul’ brand.
