Government of Telangana decided to bring in a New Sand policy

Chief Minister of Telangana decided to bring in a New Sand policy for its sale in the state. The Chief Minister suggested to the officials the new policy should be formulated in accordance with the needs of the people along with generating revenue to the government. The officials have been asked to study the Sand policies adopted by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and other states in the country. This Notification was published on 08.02.2024.

CM said that the present sand policy in the state has become a scourge of corruption. The CM alerted the officials that irregularities are happening at all levels in the sand sales. The Chief Minister has issued a stern warning against the rampant illegal sand mining and transportation plaguing our state. With a firm deadline of 48 hours, officials have been tasked with swiftly putting an end to these unlawful activities. Vigilance teams are poised to be dispatched to every district to ensure strict enforcement. Recent surprise inspections have unearthed concerning levels of illicit sand movement, prompting urgent action from the Chief Minister. This crackdown signifies a determined effort to combat corruption and overhaul the mining sector. Additionally, plans are in place to raise public awareness and leverage technology to curb further illegal activities.
