The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a notification relaxing certain provisions of the Tobacco Board Act, 1975, to permit the sale of excess Flue-Cured Virginia (FCV) Tobacco in Andhra Pradesh. This measure is being taken in the public interest for the 2024-2025 crop season.
The Central Government has relaxed the operation of key provisions of the Act to allow for the disposal of both:
- Excess FCV Tobacco grown by registered growers.
- Unauthorized FCV Tobacco grown by unregistered growers.
This sale will take place at the auction platforms authorized by the Tobacco Board. The decision was made after the Central Government was satisfied that circumstances had arisen that made such a relaxation necessary in the public interest.
