Graded Response Action Plan to combat air pollution in NCR Delhi region

The Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) has notified the Graded Response Action Plan to combat air pollution in NCR Delhi.

The environment pollution (prevention and control) authority has now directed all the agencies to enforce the following actions as listed in the “very poor” category of the GRAP, the activities to be undertaken are as follows:-

  1. Increasing bus and metro service by augmenting contract buses and increasing frequency of service.
  2.  Increase frequency of mechanized cleaning of road and sprinkling of water on road.
  3. Alert in newspaper/TV/radio to advertise people with respiratory and cardiac patients to avoid polluted areas and restrict outdoor movement
  4. stop use of diesel engine set
  5. take steps to maximize generation of power from existing natural gas based plants to reduce operation of coal based power plant in the NCR
