The Indian Nursing Council (INC) has granted an extension for the last date of admission for the Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM), General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM), and B.Sc. (Nursing) programs for the Academic Year 2025-26. The new admission deadline is November 30, 2025.
Key Directives on Batches and Compliance
The extension was granted following requests from several States and is subject to strict adherence to INC guidelines regarding total intake capacity and syllabus completion.
Student Intake and Batches
The total number of admitted students must not exceed the sanctioned Annual Intake for the program.
The council has defined distinct cohorts based on admission date for B.Sc. (Nursing) programs, which are implemented semester-wise:
- Regular Batch: Students admitted up to October 31, 2025.
- Irregular Batch: Students admitted from November 1, 2025, onwards.
Universities and Colleges of Nursing must conduct separate examinations for the Regular and Irregular batches to ensure compliance with semester requirements prescribed in the syllabus.
Eligibility for annual examinations must be strictly adhered to as per the prescribed syllabi.
Final Cutoff and Penalties
The INC explicitly stated that no request for further extension will be considered, and no admission after the cutoff date of November 30, 2025, will be undertaken.
Institutions must strictly follow INC guidelines concerning the completion of the syllabus in all nursing programs.
State Examination Boards/Councils/Universities are warned that no deviation in the admission criteria prescribed by the INC shall be accepted. Strict action will be initiated against any institution or management that fails to adhere to the prescribed admission terms and conditions.
This extension provides institutions with an additional month to finalize admissions while ensuring that regulatory standards regarding intake capacity and academic integrity are maintained.
