Integrative Ayurvedic Approaches to Obesity & Metabolic Syndrome

The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), through its Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) in Bengaluru, is organizing a two-day International Conference on Ayurveda and Integrative Approaches to Obesity & Metabolic Syndrome on December 1–2, 2025. This event will take place at the A.V. Rama Rao Auditorium, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, and coincides with the celebration of the 57th Foundation Day of CCRAS.

Key Highlights and Objectives

The Minister of State (IC) for Ayush emphasized that the conference represents India’s dedication to strengthening integrative healthcare, with Ayurveda playing a central role. He highlighted the government’s resolve to promote evidence-based approaches that combine Ayurveda’s knowledge with the rigor of modern medical science through research, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, stressed that the rising burden of metabolic diseases requires collaborative, science-driven solutions. Ayurveda offers a holistic, preventive, and personalized approach, which becomes more powerful when integrated with contemporary biomedical advancements. The conference is a step toward expanding India’s leadership in integrative research, strengthening clinical evidence, and shaping future health policies.

Conference Activities and Participation

The academic program for the conference includes:

  1. Plenary Sessions
  2. Parallel Scientific Sessions
  3. A Symposium on translational science and the integrative management of Type-2 Diabetes, Obesity, and Dyslipidemia.
  4. A specialized Workshop on Nanotechnology & Molecular Biology to be held on December 2 at the TCS Smart-X Hub, IISc.
  5. A Health Screening Camp by Samatvam, PathShodh, and CARI, running on both days.
  6. Pre-conference virtual scientific deliberations were held from November 25–27, 2025.

More than 700 delegates are expected to attend, with a program featuring 267 oral presentations, 120 virtual paper presentations, 70 posters, and 16 keynote and plenary talks by eminent scientists, clinicians, and researchers from India and abroad.

During the event, a special issue of CCRAS’s research journal, JDRAS on Obesity & Metabolic Disorders, along with 10 other books, will be released, showcasing the depth of ongoing research in the field.
