Karnataka exempts IT sectors from Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act 1946 for 5 years

The Government of Karnataka had exempted the IT Companies, Start-ups, KPOs, BPOs, Animation, Gaming, Computer Graphics, telecom and other knowledge based industries from the applicability of the Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act 1946, in the year 2014, for 5 years i.e till 2019. The Government has now further extended the exemption to the above mentioned industries for another 5 years, i.e till 24.05. 2024.

This extension will be available only if the following conditions:

  • The establishment shall constitute internal Sexual Harassment Committee
  • The establishment shall constitute a Grievance Redressal Committee consisting equal number of members representing employer and employees
  • The establishment shall intimate the Jurisdictional Deputy Labour Commissioner and Commissioner of Labour of Karnataka, about the cases of disciplinary actions taken against employees
  • Any condition regarding the service condition of the employees, sought by the Deputy Labour Commissioner and Commissioner of Labour of Karnataka, shall be immediately and fully submitted by the employer, within the reasonable time frame as fixed by the authority.
