Labour Ministry seeks to increase enrolments under Nation Pension scheme for self-employed persons

The Ministry of Labour and Employment has been celebrating pension week from November 30, 2019 to December 6, 2019 in order to increase enrolments under National Pension Scheme (NPS) for traders, shopkeepers and self-employed persons.

 The National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self-Employed Persons Yojana is a voluntary and contribution based central pension scheme for shopkeeper’s or retail traders and self-employed persons. It includes the traders in the age group of 18-40 years with an annual turnover, not exceeding Rs.1.5 crore and who are not a member of EPFO or ESIC or NPS or PM-SYM or an income taxpayer. Every eligible persons can also self-enroll through visiting the portal www.maandhan.in.

50% monthly contribution is payable by the beneficiary and equal matching contribution is paid by the Central Government. Subscribers, after attaining the age of 60 years, are eligible for a monthly minimum assured pension of Rs.3,000/-. 

All State and Union Territory (UT) Governments have been requested to bring more awareness about the Scheme.
