Levy of Goods & Services Tax (GST) on the fees payable to SEBI.

The Securities and Exchange Board of India vide circular dated 18th July 2022, has notified that all chargers payable to sebi by Market Infrastructure Institutions, Companies who have listed/are intending to list their securities, other intermediaries and persons who are dealing in the securities market shall be subjected to GST at the rate of 18% with effect from 18th July 2022.

This move has been taken after the GST Council last month recommended to withdraw the exemption granted to services by Sebi and the same was notified on July 13.
