Madhya Pradesh Electricity Supply Code 2021 (Second amendment) 2023

The Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission issued a notification dated 17th January, 2024,  regarding the Second Amendment to the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Supply Code, 2021. It outlines the amendments made in relation to the installation of smart meters and the implications for maximum demand exceeding sanctioned load or contract demand. 

The amendment introduces provisions for the automatic revision of sanctioned load and contract demand to the lowest of the maximum demand instances, provided it is technically feasible, along with the associated charges for load enhancement. 

Additionally, it stipulates that no penalty shall be imposed on consumers for maximum demand recorded before the installation of smart meters, and it outlines the billing calculation and notification process in case of recorded maximum demand exceeding the sanctioned load/contract demand.
