Maximizing Benefits and Promoting Transparency in Telangana’s Social Welfare Initiatives

The Chief Minister of Telangana has issued instructions for the swift implementation of two new schemes: Gruha Jyothi and Cooking Gas Cylinder at RS500. Scheduled for launch on February 27th or 29th, these initiatives aim to extend benefits to all applicants from the Praja Palana program. This Notification was published on 22.02.2024.

Building on the success of existing programs like the Mahalakshmi scheme and the expanded Arogyasri scheme, the state government is introducing these new guarantees. In a recent meeting with the Cabinet Sub-Committee, chaired by the Chief Minister and attended by key officials, detailed discussions were held on the implementation procedures. Regarding the RS 500 Gas Cylinder scheme, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of smooth subsidy distribution, whether directly to beneficiaries’ accounts or through gas agencies. A user-friendly approach, with beneficiaries paying only RS 500 per cylinder, is prioritized. For the Gruha Jyothi scheme, the Energy Department has been tasked with transparent execution, focusing on households with White Ration cards and low electricity consumption. Measures will be taken to rectify application errors, ensuring inclusivity. To enhance awareness, a mass campaign will be conducted through flexies, targeting every village. Additionally, regular application counters will be opened at MPDO and Tahsildar offices. In conclusion, these directives aim to ensure the effective implementation of the schemes, maximizing benefits for eligible individuals while promoting transparency and accessibility.
