MHA amends rules for Registration of Foreigners.

The Ministry of Home Affairs on 12th November 2021 has published the Registration of Foreigners (Amendment) Rules, 2021 to further amend the Registration of Foreigners Rules, 1992.

Through this amendment, a new rule 18 which deals with reports etc to be submitted in electronic form has been sintered as follows:

Any application or information under these rules shall be submitted to the Registration Officer through the electronic mode.

 On receipt of the application or information as the case may be, the Registration Officer shall verify genuineness of the application or information and, he may, if considered necessary, call upon the applicant or the informant for personal appearance of the applicant or informant for the purpose of this rule.

The Ministry had earlier issued a notification on 11th August 2021, inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected by the amendments in the act fixing a time before the expiry of a period of thirty days from the date of publication of the said notification and since no objection or suggestion has been received from the public by the Central government”, the decision was taken for amendments in the rule.
