Ministry Of Commerce And Industry lifts the ban on export of personal protection equipment

The Ministry Of Commerce And Industry in its notification dated 25th February 2020 has allowed the export of surgical masks and gloves, except synthetic rubber ones, from the list of banned items.

The DGFT in its earlier notification dated 8th February 2020, has amended the Export Policy of Personal Protection Equipment/masks in which the export of certain protection equipment was banned. However, through this notification, the following equipment are allowed to be exported.

  1. Personal Protection Equipment including Clothing and Masks [Coveralls (Class 2/3/4) and N-95 Masks].
  2. However, the following items are freely exportable.
  3. Surgical Masks/Disposable Masks (2/3 Ply).
  4. All Gloves except NBR Gloves.
  5. All Ophthalmic instruments and appliances under ITCHS 901850 except Medical Goggles.
  6. Surgical Blades.
  7. Non-Woven Shoe covers (Disposable).
  8. Breathing appliances used by Airmen, Divers, mountaineers or Firemen.
  9. Gas Masks with chemical absorbent for filtration against poisonous vapour, smoke, gases.
  10. HDPE Tarpaulin/Plastic Tarpaulin.
  11. PVC conveyor belt.
  12. Biopsy Punch.

Further, it has been clarified that the export of all other Personal Protection Equipment including N-95 masks or other items specified in the exceptions above will remain prohibited.
