The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has announced its decision to streamline and simplify the application and documentation process for the Waste to Energy (WTE) Programme.
This action is being taken to improve clarity, accelerate the timely processing of applications, and make the overall documentation more user-friendly for projects submitted under the scheme.
The WTE scheme, originally guided by the Guidelines for the Waste to Energy Schemes issued on 02nd November, 2022, promotes the generation of Biogas, BioCNG, Power, producer gas, or syngas from urban, industrial, and agricultural wastes and residues.
The simplification efforts target documentation requirements at all critical project stages:
- Application Stage
- Initial 50% Claim Stage
- Final Claim Stage
This move is intended to remove bottlenecks and accelerate the development of WTE projects, fostering greater participation in generating energy from waste materials.
