Mumbai: 150 of 1,500 industrial units found violating fire safety norms

Since April 11, we inspected 1,500 units of which 150 are prosecuted and from 90 units we have confiscated all the goods stored.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is on a special inspection drive on Khairani Road, Sakinaka with regards to fire safety compliance in the industrial units.

It was in December 2017 when the fire broke in Bhanu farsan factory in the locality which killed 12 people. “Since December 2017 three major fire incidents have taken place in the industrial units on Khairani Road and in entire Kurla, Sakinaka area (L ward) 25 minor fires are reported.

Since April 11, we inspected 1,500 units of which 150 are prosecuted and from 90 units we have confiscated all the goods stored.
