National e-Governance Division organizes a Capacity Building Programme

In celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, marking 75 years of India’s independence, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) continues to drive the vision of a digitally empowered nation. Under its flagship Digital India initiative, MeitY, through the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), has launched another impactful step toward strengthening digital governance across the country. A four-day Capacity Building Programme titled ‘Digital Transformation of the Organization & Economy’ was conducted from August 11 to 14, 2025, at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

This programme aimed to empower senior officials from both Central and State Governments with the knowledge and tools necessary to lead India’s digital evolution. A total of 27 officers from various ministries and states—spanning from Andhra Pradesh and Bihar to Lakshadweep and West Bengal—participated in this intensive training initiative.

The programme was inaugurated by Shri Rajnish Kumar, Chief Operating Officer and Director of NeGD, on August 11. In his keynote address, Shri Kumar emphasized India’s leadership in creating robust Digital Public Infrastructures (DPIs)—notably in identity (such as Aadhaar), payments (like UPI), and data exchange frameworks. He called for deeper policy analysis, impact assessments, and documentation of case studies to further enrich India’s digital transformation journey. The focus remains clear: delivering citizen-centric, inclusive, and efficient public services.

Designed with a forward-looking approach, the programme explored a wide array of topics integral to digital transformation. It covered responsible digital governance, AI integration, data-driven decision-making, and inclusive service models. Through a mix of interactive lectures, case studies, and practical workshops, participants were encouraged to apply their learning to real-world challenges in sectors like healthcare, education, agriculture, and public administration.

What sets this programme apart is its strategic focus on emerging technologies and their integration into public service delivery. By building digital capabilities at every level of government, the initiative aims to ensure that India’s growth is inclusive, sustainable, and tech-driven.

This Capacity Building Programme is part of the larger effort under the Capacity Building Scheme of Digital India, which envisions a digitally literate and empowered bureaucracy. The objective is to help public sector leaders conceptualize, design, and implement effective e-Governance projects. MeitY, through NeGD, has been making tireless efforts to bring training and digital awareness to government officials across the country.

In the spirit of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, this initiative reaffirms India’s commitment to a future where governance is transparent, accessible, and driven by innovation. As the country continues to evolve into a global digital leader, programmes like these ensure that the transformation begins at the core—within the government itself.
