It’s a deadly scam. Several hospitals in Chennai are playing with your lives, putting the city itself at risk.
A NewsX investigation has unearthed how biodegradable waste is being sold to illegitimate scrap buyers when the hospitals should indeed be paying to safely dispose it. Hospitals are supposed to treat the bio-waste and pay around 39 rupees per kilo for the treatment facilities.
However, many Chennai hospitals are selling waste at about Rs 49 per kilo to scrap dealers, making money by putting our lives at risk.
Here’s a report that should be a wake-up call for the new government of Tamil Nadu.
