NMC requests submission of Compliance Report on Anti-Ragging Measures, Incidents and Action Taken

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a notification on the submission of the compliance report on anti-ragging measures, incidents and action taken. This notification was issued on 7th June, 2023.

The NMC has a module on its website for medical students to lodge complaints on ragging. The NMC forwards these complaints to the concerned colleges. However, it is observed that the colleges do not respond to these complaints in time. NMC therefore urges all the colleges to promptly respond to the complaints forwarded to them and to submit a compliance report in this regard immediately.

Failure to respond to these complaints will be viewed as a serious violation.

It may be recalled that the NMC had issued the Prevention and Prohibition of Ragging in Medical Colleges and Institutions Regulations, 2021. As per these Regulations, all medical colleges/ institutes are required to submit an annual compliance report to the NMC.

The NMC has observed that despite a 1.5 years since the notification of the above regulations some medical colleges/ institutes have not yet submitted this compliance report. Hence, medical colleges/ institutes are required to comply with these regulations and submit the compliance report to the NMC by 30th June, 2023.

The compliance report shall be in the prescribed form III. The report for the period ending on 31st March, 2023 should include all complaints received after UG & PG admission of 2021and 2022 batch.
