The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a public notice requesting that all medical colleges and institutions take steps to effectively disseminate and utilize 157 newly developed Standard Treatment Workflows (STWs). These STWs, created by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in collaboration with the National Health Authority (NHA) and the World Health Organization (WHO), are designed to establish a consistent standard of care across 28 medical specialties in the Indian public health system.
Key Details and Implementation
The 157 STWs are available on the ICMR website and can be accessed through a mobile application on both Android and iOS devices. The ICMR has already initiated nationwide training sessions for primary healthcare physicians to roll out these workflows.
In its notice, the NMC has specifically requested that medical colleges and institutions take the following actions:
- Organize future training sessions for the effective dissemination of the STWs.
- Encourage the use of these STWs among undergraduates, postgraduates, and practicing physicians.
For further information and assistance regarding the implementation of these workflows, the Head of Delivery Research at ICMR HQ in New Delhi, can be contacted.
